After two exhausting days in a row, we started this day significantly later and with no specific agenda. As it was Sunday it was the perfect opportunity to experience the marché alimentaire Bastille – a huge market offering fresh produce, clothes and international cuisine. Of course we ended up purchasing a bit of cheese, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers – with baguettes we would have everything we needed for a nice picknick later today.

Our breakfast turned into lunch at Falstaff, directly at the Place de la Bastille – and we enjoyed sitting there for a long time…

In the afternoon we decided to fetch a rustic baguette to get ready for our picknick and take a quick break at the apartment before we headed back to the Canal Saint-Martin and stopped at “la cense” to fetch a bottle of cidre to open directly at a park bench at the canal. Vis à vis we watched the local community and experienced the area as quite some opposites. Shelterless quarters below the bridge and hipster people sitting at the canal enjoying themselves. A single touristic boat crossed our path…

Packing our stuff together, we moved further north along the waters to watch some people play Boccia, some enjoy the hours before dusk, as we already recognized the last days – it gets dark here incredible late. After another walk we decided, enough of the neighbourhood, let’s get home and ready for tomorrow – moving out, enjoying some nice breakfast, seeing the old lady in new clothes and flying homewards – so far the plans, we will see what reality has in tow for us.
