There were only two titles coming to my mind this morning. First one was Vacation upcoming, the second one was Cold Turkey…
If you enjoyed reading my blog so far, you might still understand that I am not someone with too much spare time and I hardly manage to get my postings done in time – so I was not able to prepare 10 postings for everyday when I’m gone. Besides with the new rpgbloggers.com online I guess you all will find enough material to read everyday. On the other hand, I have a few recommendations of great blogs that I think are not as famous as E’s, Chatty’s or Dave’s and are more than worth reading.
A few blog recommendations (or my list of recent must-reads):
- Scott over at A Butterfly Dreaming – is having interesting thoughts, recently more on the 4th edition – e.g. action points, defining roles are interesting reads, though I have to admit I personally prefer his recent delves into dungeon mastering and inspirational advice – two of them are Encountering a Raven Queen and Myth Direction.
- Donny over at I can haz teh Dragon :)Â (The Fine Art of the TPK)? – is a great resource for interesting thoughts and inspiration as well. My two favorite postings lately were the analysis of 4e in Tyranny of Balance and his latest ideas from Assault on the lightless depths.
- Jonathan’s The Core Mechanic – is another valuable source of information and my favorite post lately was The Yahtzee Moment besides that one you’ll find a lot of thoughts on 4e lately. But have a look yourself.
- Finally a fourth blog, I just wanted to mention Tommy from Cogito, Ergo ludo once again, he’s been on my blogroll for quite some time and he’s giving me great reads time and time and … – lately he’s been on the mission to the WoAdWriMo and shared his thoughts on his adventure. His blog is very rpg-philosophic in nature and his postings are quite resourceful and a definitive must-read.
Vacation is always two sides of a story. Currently most parts of my regular group is on vacation – taking a sailing-turn on the Mondsee (Moon lake) in Salzburg, Austria. So last and this weekend I’m already having the shakes when I think about role-playing games – it has to be very similiar to cold-turkey indeed. Next possible date is the 17th, when I will have the pleasure to guide my group as dungeon master further into the secrets of a mysteriously crashed metroid and the direct consequences of this onto the world of Ptolus.Â
We’ll hopefully enjoy a motorbike tour from here (Northwest of Vienna, Austria) to Lago di Garda (Garda Lake) in Italy. We’ll have a few stops inbetween, the first one on the famous southern wine-street in Styria (Austria) – we will continue to the eastern region of the Weissensee on Monday and will hopefully arrive in Riva del Gardo on the northern-most part of the Garda Lake on Tuesday. We’ll stay there for 2 nights and will travel back to Austria on Thursday morning – expected arrival Saturday… Have a good time dear readers.
Thanks for the heads-up. WoAdWriMo passed by, but I did prepare two games for Ropecon during it.
Sounds promising, hope you share the games soon. I think the guys over at WoAdWriMo promised everything will be in a downloads section soon – have to check after my vacation for your adventures ;-).
That’s the 1st time I’ve been called famous.
Enjoy your vacations and rest well. I so long to take vacations in Europe.
I think famous just serves to describe your reputation among rpg bloggers… Thanks, I will enjoy this (short, first) vacation this year. What keeps you from having a vacation in Europe? 🙂
Thanks for the props Lemming! have a schweet time on your vacation – Austria; wow – I haven’t been to Europe in years. I hope the exchange rate isn’t too much of a killer. See you when you return.
You’re welcome Jonathan. If you ever get the chance to get to Austria, make sure to send a mail in advance – I’ll arrange everything and maybe can even manage a small rpg group in english here ;).
Take care buddy
