So, my wife has finally forced me successfully to enjoy Paris. We packed our stuff on Wednesday before “happy cadaver day” and jumped onto a plane to CDG. The flight was a bit bumpy and France greeted us with a bit of rain – which was positively anticipated after several very hot days at home.
We stay in a lovely, small and typical french apartment close to Montmartre (18. Arrondissement). We arrive around 20:30, drop our luggage and move out to fetch a little snack before bedtime and to experience a bit of the neighbourhood. Most of the nightlife (even during weekdays) starts around 19:00 so we had no trouble finding an open restaurant at this late hour. Most of them close around 23:00 to 02:00! I get to choose the venue and decide for lebanese – La Travesia – a lovely little place and we’re the first guests this evening. We decide for three mezze (Joghurt with Garlic, Muhammara and smoked eggplant) and a salad to share – and we don’t regret it. After a few minutes a small group of Americans take the table next to us, followed by a few other families, a mixture of tourists and presumably locals. As always, we have started a trend ;). Unfortunately we did not take any pictures – so you’ll have to trust and believe us – or you try it next time you’re at Montmartre.
